The Saturdays singer - who has been dating Dougie Poynter for almost a year - is already having musical lessons from the McFly bassist and hopes to take their creative venture even further.

She said: "We should do a duet. He is so talented and he's teaching me how to play the guitar."

The 'If This Is Love' popstar also revealed that things were going so well with Dougie, who she recently moved in with, that even her parents think he's great.

She said: "He has definitely got them on side - they love him. We are both so busy and have never lived in each other's pockets, so it works. We get on really well. He's my best friend and we don't ever argue."

Despite their fame, Frankie insists they view themselves as a normal couple.

She added: "We don't put pressure on ourselves. Besides, we don't see ourselves as a celebrity couple. We keep things a bit private."

The 'Bad Boys' singer - who rose to fame when she won British TV talent show 'The X Factor' last year - only realised her life had changed when she started running into some of the music industry's biggest names on a daily basis.

She explained: "After I won 'The X Factor', I went on holiday. Then, when I came back, we went to New York. The deep end. I was on the phone to my management because I didn't even know how to act. What do I say when I meet the producers? Do I say, 'Hello sir?'

"And then I started in Jay-Z's studio. Jay-Z is sitting in the corner, chillin', having a conversation with me.

"I went to the toilet and Timbaland is sitting outside. I'm singing some ad-libs and Beyonce Knowles walks in.

"That's in the first ten days of making the album. It was mental. Mixing with people I'd dreamt of mixing with. Then getting signed to Epic in America. That's nuts. It doesn't fit with me, with my normal life.

"I had lived on Caledonian Road in London all my life, and then I'm going for a wee and Timbaland is having a sit down. It's weird."

The 21-year-old starlet also admitted she finally feels like a pop star and says being famous is "magical".

She added to Wonderland magazine: "Yes. I think I do feel like a pop star. And it feels... it feels magical. I know that's cheesy, but I wake up with a big smile on my face. I've never been so happy."

Oksana Grigorieva - who gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter Lucia, last week - knows her beau is a sex symbol to many women but says he isn't interested in that.

She said: "If he wanted to go down that road he probably would have done so by now, and I think he is a very solid and faithful person."

Oksana - who has a 12-year-old son Alexander from her relationship with actor Timothy Dalton - says she was attracted to the 53-year-old star mainly because of his sense of humour.

She added to Britain's Glamour magazine: "I thought he was wonderful - and, of course, extremely handsome. Also so versatile as an actor and a very talented director. But what I really liked was how funny he could be.

"His a big kid himself, really - a real practical joker. We laugh so much."

The Black Eyed Peas star put on 13lbs for her role in new musical movie 'Nine' but says her actor spouse never made her feel body-conscious.

She said: "When I came home from filming he was excited. He enjoys having both: the extra meat to grab when it's there and the tight stomach when that's there...he's never been critical."

Fergie also said she is the perfect partner because she can be both a good girl and bad girl.

She told America's Cosmopolitan magazine: "You know, in Italy, Catholic boys are raised to believe that there are two types of women: the Madonna and the whore. And me? I'm both."

The couple's marriage was recently rocked by allegations the 'Transformers' star had cheated on his wife with a stripper.

However, both Fergie and Josh - who married in January - have branded the claims of infidelity as "ridiculous" and have since put on a show of togetherness.

The 'Umbrella' singer - who was left bruised after her then-boyfriend assaulted her in his car after a pre-Grammy Awards party in February - believes the horrifying ordeal has made her stronger because it was so unexpected.

She said: "I've definitely emerged stronger. Going through a rough experience like that makes you tougher and to get through it takes a lot of guts. I'm naturally a survivor, but it's been hard. Just when you think somebody was perfect and that it can't happen to you, it does."

Rihanna, 21, has never spoken about the incident until recently, and says she has finally opened up because she feels she has a duty to those who look at her as a role model.

She explained to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "With any big life experience, it makes you more resilient. Many people go through something real like this. To sufferers, it's almost as if you're not allowed to talk about it."

"I like to think that from the beginning of my career, people have looked up to me. Hopefully this story is something else that people can take inspiration from. I want to send a message to young women who have been through this sort of violence that there is help out there."

Chris has also been speaking about the attack, blaming his lack of anger management but still can't believe he assaulted her.

He said: "My thoughts are like, 'Why did it happen?' Like, 'What was I thinking? What is wrong with you?' That's what I'm thinking with myself."

Chris pleaded guilty to assault and in August was sentenced to six months of community service, 12 months of domestic violence counselling and five years probation.

The judge also issued a restraining order which requires him to stay at least 100 yards from Rihanna for five years.

The 'Sweet Dreams' singer - who wowed crowds with a performance of her latest track while wearing a skimpy red corset and suspenders - was the most successful star of the night as she was awarded the prize for Best Song for her track 'Halo', Best Video for her hit record 'Single Ladies' and also scooped the Best Female Singer honour.

The 28-year-old beauty's win completely overshadowed Lady Gaga, who had been nominated for five awards but only went home with the Best New Act prize.

Ceremony presenter Katy Perry, 25, was so starstruck by the singer-and-actress, she almost "p****d" herself with nerves and excitement when they met.

The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer admitted she was terrified about running into the curvy singer and fellow chart-topper Lady Gaga in case they judged her on her skimpy stage outfits and cheeky presenting style.

She said: "I'm totally petrified about what those girls will think, but I'm doing it in my own way, not to be taken too seriously - like everything I do.

"I saw Beyonce and nearly p****d myself - she's such a force."

Busty brunette Katy - who changed her outfit 12 times during the ceremony - teased the crowd with a host of sexy anecdotes and at one stage, even joked about the 'Poker Face' star - who has been plagued by rumours she is a hermaphrodite.

Sitting in a giant, red, glittery stiletto, she quipped: "They say if men have big shoes, they have big... The confusing thing is I borrowed this from Lady Gaga!"

The 'Paparazzi' singer was not the only act left disappointed last night. Rockers Kings of Leon also left empty handed despite also being nominated for five prizes.

However, the night was deemed a huge success by rapper Jay-Z, who won the Best Urban award and Irish rock band U2, who were given the Best Live Act award.

The renowned music acts raced to the ceremony together after the US superstar made a surprise on-stage appearance with the rockers in front of 10,000 fans at Brandenburg Gate.

Producer Hudson Mohawke announced the news the 'Banquet' singer is reportedly starting working on a solo album during an interview with BBC Radio1Xtra about his forthcoming projects.

He said: "It hasn't been finalised yet, but I'm doing a bit of stuff for Kele from Bloc Party's solo album.

When pushed further on the subject, he added: "He's doing a record with one of the guys from Spank Rock."

The rumoured Spank Rock member, Armani XXXchange - aka producer Alex Epton - has previously remixed songs by Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, Beck, Santigold and others, as well as producing Kate Moss's boyfriend's band the Kills.

Okereke's solo project has not been officially announced, but the album has been speculated since Bloc Party revealed they were going on hiatus last October.

At the time, drummer Matt Tong said: "Kele is an insatiable workaholic so you'll definitely hear from him again."

The American rock group agreed to have their name and likenesses used in 'Band Hero', but the band's manager, Jim Guerinot, said they were "mortified" to find out that players could use singer Gwen Stefani to perform other artists' songs.

Guerinot said: "They're just like, 'What? We didn't sign up for this,' "

No Doubt - whose hits include 'Don't Speak' and 'Just A Girl' - are suing the game's manufacturers Activision for breach of contract and fraudulent inducement.

Activision said it "believes it is within its legal rights with respect to the use and portrayal of the band".

The band say they agreed to let characters with their names and likenesses perform three No Doubt songs in the game, but complained that the finished product allowed members to be played individually.

The band are seeking damages, a distribution injunction, and want the company to recall existing copies, but Activision say a signed agreement means the lawsuit is "without merit".

In September, former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl said they were "dismayed and very disappointed" after the band's late frontman Kurt Cobain was used in a similar way in another Activision game.

Activision said that Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, had provided a written agreement which allowed the use of the singer's likeness as a fully-playable character in 'Guitar Hero 5'.

The former Suede frontman said with his latest solo record, 'Slow Attack', he has moved away completely from pop and into new, less commercial territory.

He told BANG Showbiz: "I'm not making music for the radio. I stepped out of the machinery of being in a band, and I'm doing something which inspires me artistically.

"I'm trying to do something with a different feel, that still pushes the right buttons, that inspires me but sounds different and feels different."

The 'Animal Nitrate' singer also said he's swapped doing drugs for books - but has no immediate plans to write an autobiography.

He added: "I used to be addicted to drugs and now I'm addicted to reading.

"I'd like to write something eventually but I'd never write a sort of history of my experience of being in a band in the 90s. I can't think of anything more boring.

The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer has promised to flash her flesh while presenting tonight's MTV Europe Music Awards after her British boyfriend persuaded her to let down her guard.

She said: "I will be especially naughty under Russell's influence. I've worn things recently that aren't appropriate for this - sorry mom, sorry dad."

Katy - who is returning as presenter of the awards after impressing bosses last year - also admitted she won't be concerned if she exposes her breasts in any of her revealing outfits in Berlin tonight.

She added: "MTV asked me back because I have this no fear attitude. I don't care if I do fall over or if a boob does fall out.

"I've gone for less costume changes this year but less clothing too. It's all a bit naughtier, with lace, crystals and lots of boobie things. It's sexy. I'm highlighting what God gave me - what mama made."

While Katy, 25, insists it is the 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star who has brought out her naughty side, friends of the 34-year-old comic insist they are equally daring and provocative, which is why their relationship works so well.

British comedian David Walliams, a close friend of the star, said: "Normally Russell's girlfriends are following him around totally in awe of him, but he is following her around totally in awe.

"But I can understand that because Katy is absolutely knockout gorgeous and really funny, really provocative and naughty. He has met his match."

Katy and Russell, 34, were first romantically linked after the MTV Video Music Awards two months ago when they were seen kissing at Lady Gaga's after-party at New York nightspot Avenue.

They have enjoyed a romantic holiday to Thailand and have been inseparable ever since.

Comedian Russell has admitted he has never felt "more settled" in his life and pals believe the pair will marry in a matter of months.

The 'Meddle' singer said she would love to join the girl group's original line-up - Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhan Donaghy - if they have a reunion.

She said: "They could call themselves The Real Sugababes. It would knock the current Sugababes out of the water.

"If one wasn't up for it, I could be the blonde one."

Keisha - the last original member - was ousted from the band in September after months of feuding with bandmates Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range.

Despite recent speculation, Keisha has insisted she is not planning a reunion with Mutya and Siobhan, who formed the trio in 1998.

Her spokesperson said: "Keisha is definitely 100 per cent not going to be involved in any kind of Sugababes reformation. Keisha has solo projects that she's working on which will be out next year."

Keisha's replacement in the current line-up of the group, Jade Ewen, recently said she is terrified of meeting the singer.

Jade, 21, said: "I haven't met her yet. I'm quite scared. I'm sure she wouldn't do anything to me..."

The 'Umbrella' singer - who split from Chris Brown after he assaulted her in February - singled out 'Photographs' from her forthcoming LP 'Rated R' as her favourite track on a record she found cathartic to write.

Rihanna said of the song: "It's called 'Photographs'. It's about a break-up, and the only thing you have to show for the relationship is some pictures... making this album was my recovery. It's the way I vented and expressed myself."

"So I've seen Britney Spears, I saw Kylie the other week and we went to see Beyonce in Japan - to try and see how it all pans out.

He added that while he enjoyed the concerts, the singer and songwriter will not be getting any crazy ideas about how the new shows will play out.

He added: "Well, there's not going to be circus performers or bass solos. There's not going to be any horn sections. But you can't try to be coy with something that big.

"You can't hold back. That's what I've learned from those three anyway. Kylie was terrific by the way."

He added that he was confident the band could do a follow up tour to 2007's Bigger Bang.

Earlier this week Ronnie picked up the Outstanding Contribution award at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards.

Speaking about a reunion with his other band Faces, he said: "Well, we just had one, and there will definitely be more."

Commenting on rock stars wearing makeup, Ronnie said: "It's like Kiss - they're people you don't recognise in the street, then they take makeup off, I've always worn it, but I've not got any on tonight."

The frontman said the album has been put together to fulfil the obligations of the band's record deal and that he doesn't feel the time is right in the band's career for a retrospective compilation.

He told England's BBC Radio 1: "It still seems premature because we're still a functioning, active band. Those things can look like an obituary.

"We were asked to do this a long time ago. We wrote it into a deal a long time ago - that's how it works."

He also joked: "They started asking about four years ago, and we said, 'Don't we need some hits?'"

Humour aside, Dave added he felt the 16 track album - which features hit including - was like a beginner's guide to the group and didn't include some of their best work.

Making reference to a set of well-known US study guides, he said: "It's like a CliffsNotes version of what we've been doing for the last 15 years. I think there are better songs than some of those."

Foo Fighters will perform at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany tonight.

The Westlife singer's dad, Nicky Sr, died suddenly yesterday and Nicky - who was in London at the time - has now flown back to his native Ireland to be with his family.

The cause of death is not yet known but Nicky's bandmates - Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily - have all offered their support.

A Westlife spokesman said: "The boys in the band's main priority is looking after Nicky at this tragic time."

Last December, Nicky - who has two-year-old twin sons, Rocco and Jay, with wife Georgina - threw a lavish bash at a top Dublin hotel for his father's 60th birthday and presented Nicky Sr with a £16,000 Harley Davidson motorbike as a present.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer admits she was terrified ahead of playing her first-ever full-length concert in London this week, but enjoyed the experience so much she is now planning a string of concerts around the world.

She said: "I wasn't nervous until I got to the side of the stage, then I started shaking. I felt it went so fast - and now I just want to do it again. I can't wait to tour next year."

The 24-year-old star - who shot to fame on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' - claimed her biggest fears came from knowing Simon Cowell, who mentored her on the programme, was in the audience.

She explained: "I was so worried about falling over in front of Simon during 'Outta My Head'. I only had a day to learn the steps. I've never done anything like that before. I was so nervous."

But Leona needn't have worried - Simon called the show "incredible".

The 'Run' hitmaker found the performance the perfect way to get over her recent attack at the hands of a fan at a book signing.

The group confirmed earlier this week they are planning to use vocals recorded by Stephen before his sudden and unexpected death last month on their new album, but frontman Ronan Keating said their grief may prevent them from taking the new material on tour.

He said: "We've got his vocals for several tracks, thank God. But as for going on the road, we may tour, we may not. I keep remembering things and I get emotional."

The singer also revealed he thinks the band's next single - which will feature Stephen's voice and was written by British pop star Mika - will have a huge impact.

Speaking in Melbourne, Australia, he added: "It's going to be the biggest song of next year, I promise.

"Stephen actually recorded his vocals on it, which is very exciting. He did backing vocals, he sounds like an angel, which is ironic."

The group have also spoken out about their final night with Stephen, when they stayed in the church in Dublin with his coffin on the night before his funeral.

Ronan, 32, said: "All of us are so happy that we did it. It was our last real night together as a five-piece, and it felt like that - it felt like we were quiet.

"We lay on the floor to the left of the coffin in our sleeping bags and we cried and we laughed and we could hear him telling us jokes and answering back, what he would say back.

"We didn't get much sleep - a little bit but that's not what it was about - it was just about spending time with Stephen and we knew Stephen well. He didn't like the dark, he didn't like being on his own."

Stephen died aged 33 from an acute pulmonary oedema, a build-up of fluid in the lungs, at his holiday home in Majorca on October 10.

The Queen guitarist has been immortalised, along with the rest of his group, in the game as a Lego character, but said he insisted the team behind it work to get his trademark perm exactly right.

He said: "I think my Lego character is wonderful. I want one. We had discussions about the hair, there were a few emails. They had to negotiate to use my likeness, but it's a nice thing."

Brian, 62, said he even got a phone call from the jealous singer of Def Leppard when the Lego likenesses of him and bandmates Freddie Mercury, John Deacon and Roger Taylor were released.

He added: "Joe Elliott rang me up and said he was p***ed off because they didn't make one of him."

Despite the fact he is in the game Brian said he's not likely to play it, however.

Speaking at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards last night, he added: "I haven't got the game, in fact I don't get to play computer games.

The former 'Guns N Roses' guitarist said he's recording the last song for his debut solo album - which will feature a number of guest vocalists - and can't wait for the results to be released.

Speaking at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards on Monday, he said: "It's pretty much done. I've got a couple of songs left to mix and I've got one song left to record which I'm doing as soon as I leave here, after I head back tomorrow.

"There's quite a list of people on the album. I'm not publicly talking about who it is until all the ink is dried on all the different contracts, but the rumours are out there - you sort of know what's going on."

Rumoured to appear on the record are Black Eyed Peas' vocalist Fergie, Cyprus Hill - on a new version of Guns N Roses classic 'Paradise City'- Koshi Inaba from Japanese rock duo B'Z, Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Flea, Dave Grohl and ex Guns N' Roses band-mate Steven Adler.

Slash added: "There will be some people from the pop business that people are surprised that I'm using, and there's also some real rock n roll people with pop guises."

The 'It's So Easy' guitarist also said he only drew up his wish list of singers when he had written the songs for the record.

He added: "When I was actually doing the writing of the songs I didn't have singers. But then, when I had finished them, I thought 'you know who would sound good on this...' and that's how it would start."

Slash's self titled debut album will be released early next year.

The rapper said after his first three albums he finally understood how to make pop records with his latest, 'Tongue N' Cheek', and plucked up the courage to make party music rather than sticking to his grime and hip hop background.

He told Clash magazine: "I get pop music now. I get what a pop format is, to be up with there with the greats and the best. I don't think I really knew how to do it when I started out because the environment that I was competing for was the underground pirate radio scene."

"I accept it now. I walk down the street and think, 'F**k it, man, whatever'. It's lovely. It's nice to know that I can make music for all sorts of people. That was kind of my goal."

The 24-year-old rapper added although he has only just embraced pop music, his career has always seen him work close to both pop and hip-hop stars.

Dizzee - real name Dylan Mills - added: "People think the whole pop thing is new to me. But I toured with Justin Timberlake when I was nineteen.

The 'Bad Boys' singer begged her record company to find her a new property after being intimidated by a group of youths who shouted abuse and threw rocks, amid fears she would retaliate with violence.

She told Wonderland magazine: "I get all the kids on the street I've lived in throwing s**t at my car.

"I have to move away because I'll end up hitting one of them and getting arrested. That's it. Career over.

"It's the natural reaction when someone comes up to you and starts on you and gives you a slap first."

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old star has helped save a British toddler's life.

The singer stepped in after hearing about the plight of one-year-old Sophie Atay who needed £500,000 for life-saving cancer treatment in America and persuaded music mogul Simon Cowell - a judge on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor', which Alexandra won last year - to donate "tens of thousands" of pounds to the cause.

Alexandra said: "As soon as I heard about Sophie I was so touched I knew I had to help.

The former Stone Roses singer was taken into custody on suspicion of assault after neighbours alerted police to a disturbance at his home in west London, where his 37-year-old spouse Fabiola Quiroz - with who he has a nine-year-old son Emilio - told officers he had abused her.

A police spokesman confirmed: "A 46-year-old man was arrested at the address and taken to a police station."

The 'Stellify' singer was later released on bail until a hearing next month.

This is not the first time Ian has been in trouble with the law.

He was arrested for assault in 2005, but the charges were later dropped.

In 1998, he was jailed for four months following an air rage incident.

The singer threatened to chop off flight attendant Christine Cooper's hands with plastic cutlery on a British Airways flight between London and Paris after she tried to sell him alcohol.

In 2006 Ian said: "I've not drunk alcohol since 1999. I've never drunk a can of beer, and I haven't had a pint since 1990. I think that surprises people."

The 'Superstar' singer moved out of the home she shared with soccer player Darren Byfield - with who she raises two children, Teja, her eight-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, and Tiani, four - last week and the pair are set to start legal proceedings to end their 16-month union.

No reason has been given for their split.

The couple confirmed in a statement said: "It is with regret that Jamelia and Darren Byfield confirm they are splitting up and getting a divorce.

"No one else is involved. Their priority is naturally their two children."

Jamelia, 28, and 33-year-old Darren have seen their relationship fraught with difficulty.

The couple separated in August 2007 amid rumours the sportsman had had an affair, but reconciled a few months later and married in a lavish ceremony in June 2008.

A friend said: "Their relationship has been through lots of ups and downs. Jamelia took him back after he was accused of straying but the last year has been tough.

"Jamelia decided to leave this week and there is no going back this time. They are both devastated, but have vowed to remain on civil terms for Tiani."

The divorce announcement is in stark contrast to Jamelia's recent comments about the future of her family.

She said this summer that she and Darren were hoping to have more children.

Producer A-Track said: "Kanye's taking a bit of time away from the limelight. But he keeps telling me all these ideas he has for songs and fashion bits. It's really amazing just how many ideas he has."

Hinting at the direction the rapper will take, UK star Mr Hudson said Kanye could be working on an "old school rap record".

For his fifth album, Kanye is also reportedly working with 19-year-old rapper, Soulja Boy, for some tracks.

Soulja Boy told website Rapup.com: "I'm working on Kanye's next album right now. He makes beats and I make beats, and right now I'm remixing a couple of records for him."

He said: "I'm pushing the record up; it'll be out on the 16th. I'm expecting it to do good because of the response I've heard on the web. I feel good that it was leaked in its entirety, in sequence. So people can hear my vision."

The '21 Guns' rockers will play at Manchester Lancashire Cricket Ground on June 16 and Wembley Stadium on June 19th in the UK, before heading to play at Paris Parc Des Princes in France on June 26.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong told NME.com: "Playing Wembley Stadium is kind of one of those moments in your career when you just go 'holy s**t!'"

"It's going to be great because Wembley has a long tradition of rock concerts with the likes of U2, Foo Fighters and Muse playing here in the past and we're just happy to be part of that. It'll be great to play in Manchester too."

Tickets for all concerts go on sale on November 6th at 9am.

The announcement fuels rumours the band will also play a number of festivals next summer.

The UK shows will be the first the group have played since 2005, when they played two-nights at Milton Keynes National Bowl, later documented in live album 'Bullet In A Bible'.

Green Day are presently on a world tour in support of their latest album '21st Century Breakdown'.

The 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star - who is famed for his womanising ways - insists he is ready to put his philandering past behind him to settle down with the singer.

Russell, 34, said: "Katy's lovely. I am living in a different way at the moment.

"Regardless of what happens in my current situation, I am unlikely to be satisfied with calamitous promiscuity of the preceding five or six years.

"I am ready for children actually. It's been seven years since I took drugs. I've made a film. I don't have to fight so much. I've grown weary of the carousel."

Russell - who has been dating Katy, 25, since they met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September - also admitted he has "high expectations" of his girlfriends because of his upbringing.

He explained to Britain's Sunday Times magazine: "I'm an only child of a single mother - it probably meant that I'm demanding and have high expectations of women.

The 'We Weren't Born to Follow' rockers are set to play a string of dates at the city's O2 Arena from June 7 2010, but fans are upset they will have to pay up to a staggering £1,300 to see their idols.

General admission to the shows costs £45 for the cheapest seats, rising to £200, while the price of the highest-banded premium tickets has led angry fans to call for a boycott of the concerts.

One wrote on the group's website: "I am going to stand up for what I believe in and use my earnings to feed my kids rather than lining some fat cat's pockets."

Another added: "After writing an album about the world's problems with the recession the prices are just a mockery."

Despite the complaints the band's initial five shows sold out in hours, and another nine dates in 'The Circle Tour' were subsequently added.

The high prices are in contrast to those sold by other stars for their dates at the venue.

Tickets for Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' 50-date residency cost £50 to £75, with a corporate package charged at £7900.

In June, unsold VIP Britney Spears tickets with a face value of £100 were sold off at £2 each to fill up the arena.

Meanwhile, Bon Jovi performed on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' last night, where lead singer Jon Bon Jovi reportedly made some unusual backstage demands.

A source said: "Jon made a big deal about his loo seat. He wanted it to be a brand new seat and his people said he wanted to see it before it was fitted upon his arrival at the studios."

The band will complete a world tour in 2010, in support of their latest album 'The Circle'.

The 29-year-old vocalist said he was annoyed that Westlife - who have had 14 number one hits and more than 43 million records sold worldwide - were "misunderstood."

The 'Flying Without Wings' vocalist said: "Our record company, they don't want to take risks so they would be the ones who would be happier to do more covers. To anyone who criticises what we do, we actually do a lot of original pop songs and a lot of our best songs, a lot of our number one singles are actually original pop songs. "

He added: "We definitely did go too far, we did too many covers. That's something we allowed to happen and shouldn't have."

Despite this, Westlife's new single 'What About Now' is actually a cover from Daughtry, an American rock band, but Mark defended the group's choice of song.

He said: "It's a cover in the way that it's been recorded by another artist but it's not a cover in the way 'Mandy' was in that it's been a massive hit already."

He also said that even though Westlife have had a year off, they won't be splitting up.

He said: "I think we had the break because things were almost coming to the point of going too far with just getting an album out every year. Things were getting a bit stale really."

The British band - who have sold millions of records around the world - say they could lose £50,000 on their US tour, which they hope will make up for their disastrous first attempt to break the country nearly 20 years ago.

Bassist Nicky Wire said: "It's just bizarre looking back to think we ever had a chance out here.

"Grunge was breaking everywhere, everyone looked like a sack of s***, and then we turned up looking like the New York Dolls. It was never gonna happen."

Manic Street Preachers were due to embark on a big US tour in 1994, but on the eve of the first concert their guitarist Richey Edwards went missing and it was subsequently cancelled.

Edwards - who has never been found - was pronounced dead last year.

Singer James Dean Bradfield - more used to playing to thousands at arena concerts than small venues - said playing to small crowds in America was disheartening.

He said: "You want the crowd just to be a liquid mass. The best thing about a gig is when people lose self-consciousness and with a small crowd it's just not gonna happen."

But he said that doing something different after nearly 20 years together was good for the band.

He said: "When you get to 40 and something can still feel new and scary... that's pretty amazing."

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/manics-us-battle/article/20091102030247844835888?rsp=Music News

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/manics-us-battle/article/20091102030247844835888?rsp=Music News

Amateur Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol are amazed they write successful songs.

The 'Chasing Cars' hitmakers admit their approach to songwriting can sometimes be viewed as less-than-conventional, with frontman Gary Lightbody unable to even write music.

Asked how they suddenly found success almost 10 years after they formed, Gary said: "I learnt how to write a chorus. The first two albums don't have any.

"But it's not as clear-cut a formula - I will just guess my way through the chords. I don't know how to read music - we write very slapdash - if anybody ever saw the writing process they'd say, 'How the f**k did you ever write anything?"

Meanwhile, the singer says the key to the band's longevity is a firm friendship.

He added: "Never start a band from an advert in a magazine. If it comes together naturally than you've got a bigger chance of lasting.

The 'Run' hitmakers love being able to walk around unrecognised, despite selling millions of records around the world.

Frontman Gary Lightbody said: "Even our own fans would have trouble picking us out of a line-up. We're very lucky in that the songs are the famous things, so we can walk around anywhere unrecognised. We will be in a clothes shop with our songs playing on the radio and nobody even raises an eyebrow, even in the UK."

The quintet's biggest success came with the single 'Chasing Cars' and despite hearing it played on radio stations everywhere, Gary insists they never get tired of it.

He added: "I have never thought anything bad about 'Chasing Cars', ever. It's the most ubiquitous thing we've ever done, so it's probably due for our own personal backlash now. But it's our favourite son, daughter, whatever its sex is - why would we be angry? That song went around the world - we just followed it."

The 'Patience' hitmakers - who have earned millions since they reformed in 2005 - say they often get disheartened by their writing and are constantly questioning their own abilities.

Jason Orange said: "I'm the most negative in the band, asking, 'Can we do it better?' all the time. I always question if what we are doing is good enough."

His bandmate Mark Owen added: "Sometimes one of us has to go down a certain path with an idea before we all decide it's s**t."

However, Howard Donald says the group perform better as a unit now as Gary Barlow is no longer the sole songwriter.

He explained in the 'Take That Presents: The Circus Live' DVD: "We've got a much bigger friendship now that we ever did.

"Gary used to write everything at such a rate we were always catching up."

Mark - who had two top 10 singles in the UK chart after the band split in 1996 - admits his own input in the band would be better if he could remember his dreams.

He explained: "I write great songs in my sleep. I sing lyrics into my phone.

"When I wake up in the morning it's just me mumbling and falling asleep - but when I'm dreaming I hear all the string arrangements."

The 'Swallowed' singer says Kingston - his eldest child with wife Gwen Stefani - is already displaying signs of wanting to follow in the footsteps of his rocker parents and has promised him he can join them one day.

Gavin, 42, revealed: "At the last benefit we were at, he wanted to get on stage with me and sing.

"I told him we can, but we have to practice a bit first."

Gavin added Kingston particularly loves the drums and always wants to help out in sound checks.

He told gossip website Popeater: "He always wants to come now. During the show, he loves to be on stage on the side. But he loves to play the drums during the sound checks and play with my guitar pedals. He likes to check the mic."

Kingston and his brother, 14-month-old Zuma, often go on tour with Gavin and with Gwen's band No Doubt, and Gwen said she valued the quality time with her children.

Speaking about a recent trip to Russia with Zuma, Gwen, 40, recently said: "It has been perfect. I knew I couldn't be without him."

The 'Bodies' singer has criticised the 'Live Forever' hitmakers - who split this summer after relations between bandmates and brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher became unmanageable - for only releasing one good single in over a decade.

He said: "To be honest, I know there's history between us and this isn't very complimentary, but they've been doing a lap of honour for the past 13 years. There's been the occasional gem here and there. 'The Importance of Being Idle', and well, that's about it."

The 35-year-old singer has also admitted he thinks his former friends are too "stubborn" to ever reunite.

He is quoted by Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "Originally I thought they'd inevitably get back together because they are the band. But reading between the lines, they're both really stubborn so I don't think they will."

Robbie became friends with the brothers in 1995 after he quit boy band Take That.

However, their friendship turned sour years later when Noel labelled him a "fat dancer from Take That".

The 'Angels' star hit back, branding the guitarist a "mean-spirited nasty little dwarf" and reportedly sent a funeral wreath to the band following the release of their 2000 LP 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants' with a note reading: "R.I.P. Heard your latest album ."

Meanwhile, Robbie - who has just released his highly-anticipated comeback single following a three-year-break - has shocked fans by pulling out of the MTV Europe Music Awards -EMAs.

It has been reported the former Take That star is unhappy with the way his return to the charts has been handled.

MTV have blamed his withdrawal from the music award show on "scheduling conflicts", while Robbie's team have refused to comment.

The 'American Idiot' rockers said they don't understand exactly why the current US president has been awarded one of the most prestigious prizes in the world after only nine months in office.

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said: "He's got a lot of work to do. I mean, he's got a huge job, you know.

"Winning the Nobel Peace Prize - they might have been premature on that, you know, you've got to create a little bit more peace before you get something like that."

The songwriter, singer and guitarist also said he prefers looking for free porn on the internet to Googling his own name.

He added during an interview with Absolute Radio Hometime DJ Geoff Lloyd: "It's much easier to Google free porn than it is... I like Googling like Megan Fox, it's much more interesting than Green Day."

Green Day - completed by bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool - are presently on a world tour in support of their latest album '21st Century Breakdown'.

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/green-day-doubt-nobel-obama/article/20091030074505189368078?rsp=Music News

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/green-day-doubt-nobel-obama/article/20091030074505189368078?rsp=Music News

'Hatching' star Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga will "hatch out of an egg" at the start of shows on her 'Monster Ball' tour.

The eccentric 'Poker Face' singer has said her tour - which replaces the cancelled 'Fame Kills' tour, which she was preparing to co-headline with Kanye West - will show an "evolution" of her character from the very beginning.

She told Dallas radio station KISS 106.1: "I actually hatch out of an egg in the show. That's the beginning of the show. It's kind of the beginning of evolution. I begin as a cell."

"The show is based on this theme of evolution, which has a lot to do with how I've changed over the years, and in a symbolic way of describing myself as a person, as Gaga."

Gaga also said her 'evolution' concept is a subtle message conveying her thoughts on "pre-packaged" pop stars, who haven't had to work hard in the same way as her to make it famous.

She added: "In a way, I think it's kind of convoluted the way that people think about it, because the assumption is that they believe that pop singers should kind of pop out of nowhere and be born and cracked out of an egg one year that the record label lays, and that's not the way that should happen."

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/hatching-star-lady-gaga/article/20091030074506189263074?rsp=Music News

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/hatching-star-lady-gaga/article/20091030074506189263074?rsp=Music News

Constant writer Corinne

Corinne Bailey Rae couldn't' stop writing songs during her year away from the limelight.

The 'Like A Star' singer took time out from her career after the accidental death of her husband, Jason Rae, from an overdose of methadone and alcohol in March 2008 - but said she never gave up songwriting as it is more than just a job to her..

Corinne, 30, said: "I couldn't have not done it because I've always made up songs, so it's just been a natural extension of who I am really.

"Music is my love, it's not just my career. It's what I do to express myself. I've been involved in music the whole time that I've been away from the spotlight."

Corinne - who made her first public appearance since Jason's death this week at the Q Awards in London - also said she had no problems coming up with the title of her comeback album, 'The Sea' set for release next year.

She added: "I was really surprised when I put all my notebooks together and realised there was all this water and there was this powerful, elemental force going through all the songs.

"It wasn't difficult to find a title. It seemed there was this overarching theme."

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/constant-writer-corinne/article/20091030074504189493809?rsp=Music News

http://music.aol.co.uk/music-news/constant-writer-corinne/article/20091030074504189493809?rsp=Music News
